Darke Academy 01 Secret Lives Gabriella Poole Books
This was a interesting book, I couldn't figure out what was going on until the end of the book. But it kept me enthralled to figure out what was going on. It was well written and kept me highly intrigued. I've seen this book get horrible ratings, and to which I always say to each their own, but I really enjoyed this book and am excited to read the next in the series.Tags : Amazon.com: Darke Academy 01: Secret Lives (9780340989241): Gabriella Poole: Books,Gabriella Poole,Darke Academy 01: Secret Lives,Hachette Children's,0340989246,Fantasy & Magic,Horror,Love & Romance,Suspense fiction.,Young adult fiction.,Children's & young adult fiction & true stories,Children's Books - Young Adult Fiction,Children: Young Adult (Gr. 7-9),General fiction (Children's Teenage),Juvenile Fiction,Juvenile Fiction Fantasy & Magic,Juvenile Fiction General,Juvenile Fiction Horror,Juvenile Fiction Love & Romance,Juvenile FictionFantasy & Magic,Juvenile FictionLove & Romance

She's "Few" now but she's not like the rest. It is now up to her, Isabella, Jake and Ranjit to learn how to she can live this way half demon half human. But can she?
well written but not my kind of book
I initially thought this was gonna be another book about vampires. Apparently not! I liked how the secret of the society named 'The Few' wasn't revealed too early on in the book. The build-up was terrific. Well done, Gabriella! I hope you write more books after this series.
Darke Academy is a singular school that harbors many hidden secrets, as it moves from place to place, each term so as to avoid catching the eyes of those suspicious few. The elite establishment has impossibly beautiful, striking students who seem if anything almost unreal, which are both extremely wealthy and sophisticated in manner. It all seems too good to be true to Cassie who begins to unravel the truth behind the surface about this mysterious Academy, with her curiosity and inquisitiveness getting the better of her as she delves even deeper into what lurks within the shadows. A select group of students called `the few' aim to keep outsiders away, who hold close much undisclosed knowledge including about the incident a year ago when a scholarship girl died. Naturally as a scholarship girl herself Cassie endeavors to find out the truth, and so with the little insight that she possesses becoming a dangerous thing what might happen if she learns too much?
For readers who love teenage fiction/ Young Adult, you will be swept away by this stunning tale that has such an eye-catching and inspired front cover that I totally loved (with scarlet eyes that catch your attention instantly!). This trilogy promises much to come for I was left wanting to know more and to find out more about the Academy once I had finished this first installment, hence I take that as a very good sign and is testament to Gabriella Poole's brilliant writing. Captivating and full of electric tension and suspense, as I plunged head first into this absorbing tale I wanted to similarly to the main character find out more. This book also includes an extract from the second book in the trilogy `blood Ties' that brought a rather large smile to my face after feeling deflated that this story had ended, by the time I had reached page 267.
If you love Vampires and are a fan of the supernatural, fantastical and secretive then I urge you to discover and enroll at the Darke Academy, for before long you will be begging to join the chosen few. Character-driven with a fast-paced and gripping plot I found this story most original, the concept was totally inspired and it was refreshingly new. As a fan of not only the Young Adult genre but other works of fiction such as Twilight by Stephanie Meyer and The Vampire Diaries as well as `Teen' books, this book was a real delight to behold and the surprising plot full of twists & turns certainly kept me wanting to turn the page. I rate this book four and a half stars which as a result of enjoying it so much surpassed and exceeded all my expectations, hence I am really looking forward to reading the next installment within this brilliant saga! Just brilliant!!!
This book was really nice…. Reading the synopsis I assumed that this book has to be nice because it’s paranormal, it’s romance and last but not the least, it has a BOARDING SCHOOL!! As I said in my first review, I have a “thing” for boarding school books. When I started reading this book, I read the prologue and I was literally like ‘WHAO! If this is the prologue how’s the rest of the book gonna be?’, the prologue was that good.
Secret lives contains mystery, suspense, intrigue and a little bit of romance. It had a new storyline, I have never heard, read or seen anything with this sort of a storyline and this new twist was quite interesting,The conversations were expressed nicely, the characters were all described beautifully. The way the few were described, it made me wonder every step, what were they up to, who they actually were, what they actually were. Cassie is innocent and naive, she was a foster kid and coming to this big and rich academy she never thought she’d actually fit in. But then comes in Isabella – nice, cheerful, always toooo happy and overly excited Cassie’s room-mate. I really liked these two characters in particular.
It was an interesting novel, though a bit small but it consumed you fully, the starting (prolougue) and the ending of the book were really really nice. The prologue was all scary and horror and the ending was all romantic and cute. This book has a really nice flow to it and unlike some books it doesn’t give you that feeling when you are all frustrated and start counting how many pages are left, it’s straight forward and is rather a small book.
In the end I would say that this book was awesome, and I would love to read the next parts of the book and I would also say that if you are looking for a new twist in the old paranormal romances, this is the kind of book you are looking for. So don’t think and pick it up and enjoy!!
